Professional Information

Marcia is a Marriage and Family Therapist maintaining a private practice in Powell River, B.C., Canada, and Kelowna, B.C., Canada.  She provides tele-counselling and Zoom counselling, in addition to onsite counselling. Individualized psychotherapeutic counselling modalities are utilized to meet the needs of individuals, couples and families.

With over thirty years experience as a clinician, and a graduate of Loma Linda University, Marcia currently serves as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are couples counselling, children with FASD, ADHD, ODD, women's issues, stress and anxiety management, recovery from depression, self esteem and assertiveness training, survivors of sexual/verbal/emotional abuse, recovery from addictions, resolution of parent/child conflict, family counselling and coping with grief and loss. 

Marcia has presented to college faculty and students and general audiences on topics ranging from stress and exam anxiety management to effective behavior modification techniques for children with behavioral and/or emotional disorders. Marcia is a practical, interactive, solution-focused therapist, addressing physical, emotional and spiritual issues from a holistic perspective. Her treatment approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients resolve current problems and long-standing patterns. She incorporates a blend of conventional and alternative approaches, drawing upon a variety of styles and techniques to incorporate what will be most helpful for each client. With sensitivity and compassion, she works with each client to help them build on their strengths to identify and achieve life goals.

Personal Information

Marcia has been married 51 years, and has been blessed with five children. She is also proud Nana to eight beautiful grandchildren. Marcia and her husband have adopted two children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, severe learning disabilities and significant developmental delays. She describes them as "amazingly courageous" and insists that parenting them keeps her humble while making her strong!
